Amounts vary from £1,500 for a small yacht in the UK to over £3,000 for a larger yacht in the Med.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFortunately, most deductions made by charter companies in the event of damage are relatively small. Common problems include lost fenders, small marks to the gelcoat, blocked toilets or ripped horseshoe buoys. Bills for such issues tend to be in the region of £50 to £200, and the Club feels it reasonable that individual skippers and or their crews deal with these small liabilities among themselves.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHowever, the Club recognises that the possibility of a yacht sustaining more significant, costly damage (i.e. above £200) may be off-putting to skippers, especially those who are relatively new to organising or skippering trips. For this reason, the Club has created the LSC Muck-up Fund. This is a discretionary fund, and any grants made from the fund will be contingent on approval from the Club’s management committee. However, provided a member’s trip meets each of the following criteria and has been approved in advance for potential future recourse to the fund, the fund may contribute up to £1,000 towards the cost of damage sustained beyond the initial £200 threshold.
