Obviously the route will be weather dependent, but whichever way we go you can be guaranteed it will be pretty.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSplit has a great history, so you may wish to visit there for a few days of sightseeing before we sail.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe will meet at midday on Sat 12th September at ACI Marina in Split. We will take command of the boat, stock up on provisions, familiarise ourselves with the yacht, conduct a safety briefing, and then go sailing! Lunchtimes will generally find us anchored in a bay for a swim and a bite to eat. In the evenings we will either be tied up in a marina, when you can explore ashore, or we\u0027ll spend the night tied to a mooring buoy. We will arrive in Dubrovnik by 4pm on Friday and must be clear from the boat by 9am on Saturday. Dubrovnik is also steeped in history and very picturesque, so you may wish to consider spending some time there before flying home.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eThe Boat\u003c/strong\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe have chartered a 2025 4-cabin Sun Odyssey 440 which comes with air con, electric winches, furling mainsail \u0026 genoa, dinghy \u0026 outboard engine, but most importantly it also comes with cockpit speakers! We will take it in turns to be in charge of the playlist for the day! The yacht can accommodate 10 people but we will sail with a maximum of 8 on board, so everyone will have a bed in a cabin to sleep in, and plenty of space. You are welcome to get as involved in sailing the boat as you like - or you can just sunbathe and swim, as you wish!\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAccommodation will be in shared double cabins. You are welcome to express a preference for who you\u0027d like to share a cabin with, and you won\u0027t be asked to share a cabin with someone of a different gender. It is not possible on this trip to pay extra for sole occupancy.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSkippers and their experience\u003c/strong\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere will be two club members acting as skippers on the trip. Mike Tucker learned to sail in the early 70’s whilst in the Army \u0026 has logged over 8,000 miles of Atlantic sailing. Mike has taken part in one Fastnet campaign, Leg 5 of Global Challenge \u0026 completed the Caribbean 600 \u0026 Middle Sea races. He has sailed most areas of the Mediterranean and holds the RYA Day Skipper qualification and an ICC license.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAlan Spencer cut his teeth in his teens racing dinghies and has been sailing larger vessels for the last 25 years, logging in excess of 7,000 miles mostly in offshore racing. He has competed in the Caribbean 600, 2 Fastnet campaigns and numerous Round the Island races. It won’t cover evening meals and you will have to arrange your own flights between the UK and Croatia, and will have to get yourself to and from the boat once in Croatia. The Event’s description (above) in conjunction with the Terms \u0026 Conditions (below) and written acceptance of payment from the Event Host shall constitute a written agreement between you and the Event Host. By participating in this Event: you recognise that Your Skipper’s main concerns are for the safety of the crew, the yacht and other vessels/people in the vicinity, and for respecting the terms of the yacht’s Charter Agreement; you agree to behave responsibly and in accordance with all safety instructions given to you; you accept that Your Skipper has the final decision on all sailing and safety-related decisions aboard the yacht and on the itinerary sailed during the Event, and you agree to abide by Your Skipper’s decisions and \u003c/em\u003e\u003cem\u003eyou accept that Your Skipper has the final decision on activities and on the itinerary; you confirm that you are in sufficiently good health to sensibly undertake the envisaged activities; you recognise that sailing can potentially be a dangerous activity with both minor and substantial risks including but not limited to serious injury, drowning and death, and you engage in it at your own risk. The yachts used for the Event are chartered directly by the Event Host from one or more local charter companies. The yachts are fully insured by the charter companies (in accordance with local laws and charter regulations) for accidental damage and third-party liability. There is no third-party organisation involved in running the Event. This is a volunteer-based Event and it is run on a non-commercial, shared-cost and shared-liability basis with the pleasure and safety of all participants in mind. This is a non-commercial trip run on a shared-cost basis. There is no commercial liability or public liability on the part of the Skippers or on the part of any crew member. By voluntarily participating in this trip, you agree to take part at your own risk and absolve the Skippers and crew from all liability arising out of any action or inaction, with the exception of intentional harm. If you wish to have insurance cover then it is your own responsibility to arrange it. The Event Host and London Sailing Club strongly recommends you take out adequate personal insurance to cover yourself and your personal possessions while engaging in any activities envisaged as part of the Event. The Event Host and London Sailing Club cannot give specific advice about which personal insurance you should have in place, but it is their general understanding that most travel insurance policies will cover recreational sailing (within 12 nautical miles of land) and that you should be able to check the extent of any existing policy’s coverage – or find a suitable policy – by searching online. Whatever personal insurance you choose to arrange, common sense suggests that it should at least include cover for cancellation (including for reasons beyond your control), personal injury (including medical treatment while abroad) and repatriation in the event of accident, injury or death. You agree to hold harmless the Event Host and London Sailing Club from any injury or financial detriment you incur caused by your failure to take out adequate insurance coverage. \u003c/em\u003e\u003cem\u003eIf the Skippers and/or the Event Host needs to cancel the trip for any reason you will be refunded in full. The Skippers and/or the Event Host reserves the right to cancel any participant. On Saturday, we’ll sail somewhere pretty for lunch before heading to Cowes for evening drinks and a celebratory group dinner. Accommodation will be aboard the yacht in shared double cabins. On Saturday we’ll be off the dock by 6am; the race begins around 7am and it’ll take c.10 hours to complete the 50-mile loop of the Isle of Wight. The race is followed by one of the biggest nights of the summer –\u0026nbsp;again we\u0027ll be berthed in Cowes at the heart of the action. Once the skippers have completed the charter formalities and everyone has had chance to board the yachts, we will all congregate in Skopea Limani on the first evening and then sail together for the rest of the week. Our cruising itinerary will be tailored to the weather, but we plan to spend every evening in a gorgeous bay either moored at a restaurant pontoon, on a mooring buoy or at a town quay! There will also be a chance for some healthy inter-boat rivalry and some fun and games in the evenings! On the final Friday, there will be a farewell dinner ashore before we depart the yachts at 9am on Saturday morning. There will be lots of chances to get involved in all aspects of the sailing but also to chill and sunbathe on the spacious decks if you wish. Accommodation will be aboard the yacht in shared double cabins. Feel like you could do with practising a few skills?\u0026nbsp; Come and join an informal weekend of training with an itinerary crafted by YOU.\u0026nbsp; This is a non-commercial trip run on a shared cost basis.\u003c/strong\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe London\u0026nbsp;Sailing Club has chartered a boat for the weekend of 14/15 March - arrive Port Hamble on Friday evening, and then back in the marina by 4pm on Sunday.\u0026nbsp; The plan is to get a few sailors together who feel they might want to practise some skills.\u0026nbsp; What we cover will be entirely dependent on what people feel they want to practise - it might include sailing on to mooring buoys or pontoons, man overboard recovery under sail\u0026nbsp;or engine, night pilotage, blind navigation, close quarters manoeuvring or parking in marinas - whatever we collectively decide.\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt\u0027s likely you\u0027ll already have plenty of hours on the water, and will want to use the weekend to practise advanced skills, but the trip is open to anyone who wishes to attend.\u0026nbsp; We\u0027ll take it in turns to skipper manoeuvres and crew for each other.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf we collectively feel a bit of expert instruction might be helpful, we have an option to hire a skipper for Saturday, and we can drop them back off in the marina before we sail to somewhere like Cowes for dinner and an overnight stay.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eY\u003cem\u003eachts\u003c/em\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe chartered boat is a Beneteau Oceanis\u0026nbsp;37ft yacht and we will sail with a maximum of five to make sure everyone gets proper time on the helm practising manoeuvres.\u0026nbsp; Although we can accommodate a sixth person if they are newer to sailing and are happy crewing for the weekend. The boat has\u0026nbsp;heating, hot/cold running water, a bathroom, a kitchen with a fridge, and more than enough electricity to charge your phone!\u003cbr\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eKit\u003c/em\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNo special or expensive sailing kit required! Just bring practical footwear and clothing to suit the weather forecast. Lifejackets are provided.
